Hunt doesn’t take long to become involved in the action. It also doesn’t dally with the customary niceties of a song, fight, punch lines, etc., with the exception of a needless special number starring Apsara Rani. And although it guarantees the movie stays mostly focused on Arjun and his situation, it regrettably doesn’t always make for interesting television.
The narrative style is somewhat dry, and while the main character has emotional moments as a result of his memory loss, they are insufficient to touch you since he is often pessimistic. While it may not be everyone’s cup of tea, the non-linear storytelling is essential to the plot. Roy (Mime Gopi) and Colonel Vikram Singh (Kabir Duhan Singh) are used as red herrings, but they don’t really pique interest.

In addition, Arjun’s extreme unlikability distinguishes this movie from other investigative dramas. You tend to get less fond of him as he learns more about his background. But for when it comes to his buddies and their better halves, he revels in toxic masculinity, uses the term “magadu” without irony at least once, mistreats his suspects regardless of gender, and is just generally a boisterous person.
That’s really a welcome change. Hunt doesn’t extol his actions, and at one occasion a fellow police even calls him out. It’s strange that anytime Mohan talks to a stranger, he continues asking, “Evaru adi,” or “who’s that,” after a guy who lost his memory. The point is that Arjun has no memory at all. A confrontation between the army and police is ridiculous, and the use of a terrorist plot element to circumvent the obvious conclusion feels forced.

It’s vital to discuss how this movie includes a gay character without giving anything away. Although it’s excellent that the LGBTQIA+ community is being represented in mainstream film, the portrayal appears to vacillate between raising awareness and bigotry on the verge. A specific moment in which the gay character has dry heaves after realising their sexual orientation may be interpreted in one of two ways. Mahesh never makes an attempt to guide the listener towards the proper interpretation. Another scenario seemed to support gays remaining in the closet. It’s very difficult to understand. Although while it all came together without much fanfare, any depiction at this stage seems like a victory, it raises the issue of whether the movie should have spent more time addressing internalised homophobia.
Bharath, Srikanth, and Sudheer Babu all perform well. As compared to the other two, Aryan is the humble one, Mohan is the mature one, and Arjun is the boisterous one. They put their all into it and convince you of the validity of their relationship. The remainder of the cast does their best with what they are given, with the exception of Abhijeeth Poondla, who is assigned a generic character. Except for the cinematography by Arun Vincent, Ghibran’s background soundtrack is unremarkable.
